While we are waiting for more essays to roll in (not to mention the bucks as we only have about $20 in contributions so far)...why not think of the many reasons for you to GIVE US FIVE DOLLARS? And when you get bored with that (perish the thought), get busy and make your essay a great one! We grade on a curve, so even YOU can become famous as a BIG WINNER!!! And remember - they can be sad, they can be funny, heck, we don't even care if they are TRUE! How's THAT for something for nothing?

Remember you can also submit sad sack stories for our Tales of Woe page - when we get rich we might share some wealth with you just for being miserable or creative!

ESSAYS BEING CONSIDERED SO FAR:

(Say - this person can REALLY stretch a twenty! You go girl!)

Entry Number 1: "If I were to win a large sum of money I would invest it into a huge farm. I would then save all the animals that are on death row in the humane societies. I would share some of the money with my parents and my brother because I believe what goes around comes around. I knew that if I ever won I would spread it around among the people I love. I would buy each and every person in my family a gift.I would be sure donate as much money as possible to save children and animals from harm. Jerry Lewis and his kids with MDA would get a big sum of money from me. If I had the money I would be on a mission to save as many animals and children that I could. My farm would be a no kill shelter. I would take as many animals as I could and give them proper care and treatment. I would then try to find the best homes possible for them. I have taken in many strays and have found them good homes throughout my life. I know that this is what I want to do, but I need the money to do it." --A. Bowman

(We hear lots of sorrowful tales here at Give Us Five Dollars...don't forget we love comedy too! Linda here has a sad tale to tell in her essay entry - let's all keep her in our prayers while we wait to see who wins their share of our wealth (currently we've received $20!):

Entry Number 2: "What would I do with extra money? Help my daughter! My only child!! She is anorexic and weighs 75 pounds. She really needs to see a specialist but our medical coverage does not cover the treatment she needs. She also loves to sew. I would bless you and God above if I was able to buy her a new quilting sewing machine that she has been looking at for the last 4 years. Anything to make her happy and interested in life again. If I won enough money, I would get down on my knees and thank everyone. My daughter and I live in a small one bedroom apartment and would dearly care for and forever be grateful for a two bedroom apartment. My daughter and I have had such a terrible life. My youngest sister has recently passed away from the disease my daughter is afflicted with. So you can see why I am so worried about her. There is so much more to this story than I have stated here, so many other bad times, abuse from family members, and lost dreams. I could never find enough words to describe the horror of our lives. She has been like a sister to me and she has been my only friend through the hard times. I would dearly love to be able to help her and pay her back for the support she gave me when I needed it. Now when she needs help and support, there is nothing I can do for her." --Linda
